The past week has been great. I really feel like I've completely settled in and gotten used to university life, and now that I have gotten used to things, I decided to explore more of the campus. Well that is, until I looked at my calendar and realized that I have five tests this month, including one on the 7th. Oops. So I sadly had to abandon my plans to spend the whole weekend exploring and spent most of it studying, but when I did get out with my friend Ashley, we went exploring.
I say exploring, but it was really just an extensive and exclusive search for the "Hidden Hammocks" I had heard so much about from upperclassmen. Surprisingly it didn't take us too long to find since we had guessed the general area of it and when we got there it was quite the sight to see. I felt like I had stumbled upon some forgotten corner of the campus, and I could see why it would be so relaxing there. Fountains, benches and green foliage covered the terraced area and large trees shaded everything with a dappled light. When we found them, they were nestled in one corner off the main paths. Hidden they definitely were.
My friend and I sat there in the breeze for probably about an hour before we decided to go grab some dinner before the sun went down. It was almost dark by the time I made it back to my room and my textbooks made an unwelcome sight. But with the first test of the month the next day I had no choice but to begrudgingly open them back up and study the night away.
Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to finally go near the river.
